Bindy

Edit: Well, I didn't win the contest, but I was up against some astounding entries and I didn't expect to win anyway. I'm happy that I got to partipate: it helped me finish Bindy's design after all.

Due to being tighter on time than usual, I'm leaving any shading work on this piece until after my graded unit for college is finished and handed in. I'll update the image when I get the chance.

Anyways, meet little Bindy: she's a "three birds with one stone" character design, as she's primarily for my Soul Nova story, but she's also my entry for KeypersCove's contest and possibly college work too!
I can't talk about the college work (partly as I'm not 100% sure she'll be usable for it), but I'll start with the whole contest thing:
When I came up with Bindy, I had a base build in mind for her, but just couldn't finish her design somehow. I had her body shape and colour scheme already planned, but she was just... lacking something that I couldn't put my finger on. That's when I came across the contest, so I flicked through the gallery out of interest and came across the perfect piece to inspire the final elements of the design.
The top piece in this image allowed me to finish her.
It's primarily her jewels that were inspired by the pendant, but it's also the reason her tail is so short. As for her colour scheme, it comes from three things: the pendant, the dragon fruit and a rather pretty pink and yellow snap dragon I saw once.
The fruit and flower are also contributors to her personality, but I'll go into that next time.
